The Centre for Excellence in teaching and Learning (CETeL) was established on the premises of Miller’s (1974) observation that the “overriding purpose of faculty, administration, and institutional evaluation must be to improve the instructional programme.” Hence, CETeL’S vision is to be a world-class Centre for building academic staff capacity in all aspects of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching towards achieving excellence in students’ learning.
The Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETeL) is an academic administrative wing of the University of Ibadan that is charged with providing professional academic assistance to various departments and faculties with the competence and technical know-how of blended learning services that align with the 21st century global educational demands. The services provided in terms of ICT-incorporated blended teaching and learning are meant to help departments and faculties achieve robust deliveries, smooth and effective teaching and learning that will enable the teaching staff and the University in general achieve their educational goals. In order to achieve our objectives at CETeL, we:
• Promote both flexible and blended learning approach to education that will serve the diverse population of students in the University of Ibadan in good stead;
• Initiate educational enhancement tools, provide educational supports, and evaluate their effectiveness in stimulating academic participation and performances;
• Create a unified and comprehensive digital learning platform that is accessible to all student, which faculties and departments can utilize to support students in navigating Oxford’s intricate academic landscape;
• Offer ongoing training and growth opportunities alongside connecting with others in the field, to help educators and learning support staff stay up-to-date and effective in their roles;
• Highlight and celebrate exceptionally brilliant and innovative teaching practices that point to excellence in education.
